The road to Mâcon

In the morning I spend some time walking the streets of Chalon-sur-Saône before taking off.

The old downtown area is small …

The overgrown path south followed the Saône river bank for miles – sunflower fields going forever ….

Got some serious rash trying to make my way through the nettle forest.

Had a great lunch at a cafe on the riverbank …

After 2h I was covered in bugs everywhere. You have to ride with your mouth closed …

Made it to Mâcon after about 65km …

    Salut Rolf,
Bon courage !

There isn’t a single “best” time to drink Burgundy wine, but 2 to 4 PM sounds reasonable, as long as you serve it slightly chilled 🙂
