Day 3 – lots of rain – Bad Bramstedt

Today I got to test my rain gear – rain all day. Didn’t make much progress (~50miles). The trails were too muddy and I decided to mostly stay on paved roads…

Found roads with good bike paths. Still took me a long time – I guess you don’t move that fast in the rain …

Didn’t see much interesting – but I found this cool looking abandoned gas station …

Many small towns still have cobblestone streets. I hate those – particularly when wet. They also make your bike oscillate at exactly the wrong frequency. Good training for Paris Roubaix

In Rendsburg I took the escalator down to cross under the Nort-Ostsee canal. Probably the longest escalator I’ve been on …

Had enough off the rain when I got to a small town called Bad Bramstedt. Found the only open bierstube…
